Rolls-Royce and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) have expanded their joint venture facility, International Aerospace Manufacturing Private Limited (IAMPL), in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, to increase production of aerospace components in India.
The expansion will boost manufacturing capacity for high-precision aerospace parts. It includes new advanced machinery and additional workspace to support growing demand from global and domestic programmes.
The upgraded IAMPL plant will produce complex components such as compressor shrouds, turbine blades, and other critical engine parts. These parts will be supplied to Rolls-Royce’s global supply chain as well as Indian aircraft programmes.
Rolls-Royce India President and Chief Executive Officer said the expansion strengthens the company’s long-term commitment to India. He added that the move supports the ‘Make in India’ initiative and builds a stronger aerospace manufacturing ecosystem in the country.
HAL Chairman and Managing Director noted that the expanded facility marks another milestone in the successful partnership. He said it will enhance India’s self-reliance in high-technology aerospace manufacturing.
IAMPL was established in 2011 as a 50:50 joint venture between Rolls-Royce and HAL. The Hosur facility specialises in machining critical aero-engine components using state-of-the-art technology. The expansion increases both production volume and the range of parts that can be made locally.
This development comes as India pushes for greater indigenous content in defence and civil aviation sectors. The expanded facility is expected to create additional skilled jobs and support technology transfer in advanced manufacturing.
Rolls-Royce and HAL have worked together for many years on various aerospace projects. The growth of IAMPL reflects the rising confidence of global companies in Indian manufacturing capabilities and contributes to the country’s goal of becoming a major hub for aerospace production.
