Mahindra to Build Largest Integrated Auto and Tractor Manufacturing Facility in Maharashtra with ₹15,000 Crore Investment

Mahindra Group has announced plans to establish its largest integrated manufacturing facility for automobiles and tractors in Nagpur, Maharashtra. The project involves a total investment of ₹15,000 crore over the next decade and will mark a major boost to the state’s industrial landscape.

The new complex will span approximately 1,500 acres in the Vidarbha region, with production set to begin in 2028. Once fully operational, the plant is expected to achieve an annual capacity of more than 500,000 vehicles and 100,000 tractors. This will make it Mahindra’s biggest combined manufacturing hub in India for both passenger vehicles and farm equipment.

The facility will feature advanced automation, digital manufacturing systems, and flexible production lines capable of handling internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles as well as electric vehicles (EVs). It aims to meet rising domestic demand, support global exports, and align with India’s push toward sustainable mobility and farm mechanisation.

A dedicated 150-acre supplier park will also be developed in Sambhajinagar to provide components to the new Nagpur site and Mahindra’s existing plants in Chakan and Nashik. The company plans to acquire additional land in the Igatpuri-Nashik area to expand current engine and product capacities while supporting its growing technology business.

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis welcomed the announcement, calling it a strong endorsement of the state’s industrial ecosystem and progressive policies. He noted that the project will create thousands of direct and indirect jobs, helping drive economic growth in Vidarbha.

Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director and CEO of Mahindra’s Auto and Farm Sector, described the facility as a bold step in the company’s manufacturing journey. He said it will bring scale, flexibility, and cutting-edge technology under one roof, reinforcing Mahindra’s focus on “Make in India for the World.”

The announcement came during the Advantage Vidarbha event, which highlighted the region as an emerging industrial hub. The investment reflects Mahindra’s confidence in Maharashtra’s infrastructure, skilled workforce, and supportive government framework.

This development comes as India’s auto and tractor markets continue to grow steadily. Mahindra, the country’s leading SUV and tractor maker, is positioning itself to capture more market share through expanded capacity and future-ready production.

The project is expected to strengthen local supply chains, promote technology transfer, and contribute significantly to employment and regional development in the coming years.
