Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has won a batch of major engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) orders for power transmission and distribution projects in India and the Middle East. The company classified these orders as “major,” placing their combined value between ₹5,000 crore and ₹10,000 crore.
The Power Transmission & Distribution (PT&D) vertical of L&T secured the contracts to strengthen electricity grid infrastructure. In India, the orders include the design, supply, and construction of two 220 kV Gas Insulated Substations (GIS) in the Durgapur–Raniganj–Asansol industrial belt of West Bengal. These substations will support reliable power supply to a key industrial region with high demand for energy.
In the Middle East, L&T received turnkey contracts from leading utility customers in three countries. The scope covers the construction of five substations and more than 250 kilometres of transmission lines, with voltages up to 500 kV. These projects will help expand and upgrade grid networks to meet growing electricity needs in the region.
The orders reflect L&T’s strong position in delivering high-voltage transmission solutions both domestically and internationally. The company highlighted its expertise in handling complex grid projects that require advanced engineering, precision execution, and reliable performance under demanding conditions.
L&T’s announcement led to a positive market reaction, with shares rising around 2 per cent in early trading on the news. The wins add to the company’s robust order book and underscore its role in supporting India’s energy transition and regional power infrastructure development in the Middle East.
These projects are expected to contribute to improved grid reliability, better power evacuation from generation sources, and enhanced connectivity for industrial and urban consumers.
