Suzlon Energy has secured a 105 MW order from Sunsure Energy to supply its S175 wind turbines for a project in India.
The order covers the supply, installation and commissioning of the turbines. It adds to Suzlon’s order book in the wind energy segment and strengthens its partnership with Sunsure Energy, an independent power producer focused on renewable projects.
Suzlon confirmed the win in a recent announcement. The company will deploy its latest S175 model, which offers higher efficiency compared to earlier platforms.
A Suzlon spokesperson said the order reflects growing demand for advanced wind technology from corporate renewable buyers. Sunsure Energy representatives noted that the project supports their plan to expand clean power generation capacity through reliable turbine solutions.
The S175 turbine has a rated capacity of 5 MW. It features a 175-metre rotor diameter and a 160-metre hub height. These specifications allow it to capture more wind energy, especially in moderate wind sites. The design also includes advanced controls suitable for hybrid and firm power applications.
The 105 MW project will add meaningful clean power capacity to the grid. It is expected to generate substantial electricity each year and help reduce carbon emissions by displacing fossil fuel-based generation. Such additions support India’s target of reaching 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030.
This order highlights the active role of independent power producers in India’s renewable energy push. Corporate and utility buyers continue to sign power purchase agreements for wind and solar projects to meet sustainability goals and secure long-term energy supply.
