Amazon Data Services India has purchased 10.6 acres of land in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region for ₹125.13 crore to build a new data centre and supporting facilities.
The land deal will support the company’s expansion of cloud computing infrastructure in India. The site will house a modern data centre along with necessary ancillary buildings.
This acquisition reflects Amazon’s continued investment in India to meet rising demand for cloud services from businesses, government, and startups. The new facility will help improve data storage, processing speed, and digital services across the country.
An Amazon Web Services (AWS) spokesperson said the investment strengthens the company’s commitment to India. The spokesperson added that the new data centre will deliver secure, reliable, and high-performance cloud infrastructure to customers in the region.
The project is part of Amazon’s broader plan to expand its data centre footprint in India. The company already operates multiple data centres in the country and continues to add capacity.
Data centres require large plots of land with reliable power and good connectivity. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region offers strong infrastructure and proximity to major business hubs, making it an attractive location.
Amazon Web Services is a global leader in cloud computing. This latest land purchase adds to the company’s growing presence in India’s digital infrastructure sector. The data centre industry in India is expanding rapidly due to increasing adoption of cloud services, artificial intelligence, and digital transformation across various sectors.
