ADNOC, HPCL Sign 10-Year LNG Supply Agreement Starting 2028

Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) have signed a major long-term agreement for the supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to India, marking one of the largest energy deals between the two nations in recent years.

Under the pact, Adnoc will supply up to 1.2 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of LNG to HPCL for a period of 10 years, commencing in 2028. The volumes will be sourced from Adnoc’s global LNG portfolio and delivered on a flexible basis to support HPCL’s growing requirements for power generation, industrial use, and city gas distribution.

The agreement was signed by Adnoc’s Executive Director of Trading, Abdulaziz AlHajri, and HPCL’s Director (Marketing), S. Bharathan, in the presence of senior officials from both companies.

It reflects the strengthening energy partnership between the UAE and India and supports India’s target of increasing the share of natural gas in its primary energy mix to 15% by 2030.

Adnoc highlighted that the deal aligns with its strategy to expand long-term, reliable LNG supply to key growth markets, while HPCL stated that the secure supply will help meet rising domestic demand, reduce reliance on spot purchases, and provide cost stability for Indian consumers.
