Japanese company TDK Corporation plans to invest around ₹4,000 crore in Haryana to set up a new Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) unit.
A delegation from TDK met with Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and Union Minister Manohar Lal at the Bharat Electricity Summit 2026. The company already runs a large facility in Sohna, Haryana, spread over 180 acres.
The proposed investment ranges from ₹3,500 crore to ₹4,000 crore. The new unit will focus on battery energy storage systems. Discussions also covered possible investments in AI-based data centers.
The meeting aimed to strengthen Haryana’s energy infrastructure. It will promote advanced technology and create new jobs.
TDK is a global leader in electronic components, sensors, and energy-related technologies. The company reaffirmed its commitment to these areas during the talks.
This planned project builds on TDK’s existing presence in the state. In 2025, the firm inaugurated a ₹3,000 crore lithium-ion battery plant in Sohna. That facility produces battery packs for mobile phones, laptops, wearables, and other devices.
The new BESS unit supports India’s growing need for energy storage. It helps store power from renewable sources like solar and wind. This aids stable electricity supply and reduces dependence on fossil fuels.
Haryana has attracted several foreign investors in recent years. The state offers good infrastructure and policies that support manufacturing and clean energy projects.
TDK Corporation, based in Japan, operates worldwide in electronics and energy solutions. The company continues to expand in India as part of efforts to build a stronger local supply chain for batteries and related technologies.
