Tata Motors has confirmed that the all-electric version of its popular Sierra SUV will arrive in India during the second quarter of 2026, between April and June. The announcement follows recent spy shots of the Sierra EV test mule on Indian roads, building excitement for what could become a strong contender in the growing electric SUV segment.
The Sierra EV will be positioned below the Harrier EV in Tata’s lineup, sitting above the Curvv EV. It will share the Acti.ev platform (also known as ARGOS), the same architecture used for other recent Tata electric models. Production is planned at Tata’s Sanand plant in Gujarat, the same facility handling the ICE Sierra.
Spy images show the EV version with a closed-off front grille for better aerodynamics, a charging port, and minor styling tweaks to distinguish it from the petrol/diesel sibling. The iconic wraparound rear glass and bold, retro-modern design language remain intact, paying homage to the original Sierra while adding modern EV touches.
Powertrain options are expected to mirror those in the Harrier EV, including 65 kWh and 75 kWh battery packs. Rear-wheel-drive (RWD) will be standard, with all-wheel-drive (AWD) likely available on higher variants. Real-world range could reach 500–550 km with the larger battery, supported by DC fast charging up to 120 kW. Tata may adjust power outputs slightly to keep the Sierra EV distinct from its larger sibling.
The EV version follows the successful November 2025 launch of the ICE Sierra, priced from ₹11.49 lakh, which quickly gained attention for its premium mid-SUV positioning and strong waiting periods. The electric model is anticipated to appeal to buyers seeking a spacious, feature-rich electric SUV with a claimed range suitable for family and long-distance use.
Tata Motors leads India’s EV market with around 40 per cent share and continues to expand its portfolio with regular launches. The Sierra EV is expected to compete with models like the Mahindra BE 6, Hyundai Creta Electric, and Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, offering competitive pricing, strong build quality, and advanced features.
