Tejas Networks, a leading Indian telecom equipment manufacturer, has been selected to supply 4G network expansion equipment for a large mobile operator in South Asia. The contract involves the deployment of Tejas’ TJ1600 converged packet optical transport platform and TJ1400 access routers to upgrade and expand the operator’s existing 4G LTE radio access and backhaul network.
The project aims to increase network capacity, improve coverage in rural and semi-urban areas, and support rising data demand driven by smartphone penetration and digital services. Tejas Networks will deliver a mix of high-capacity optical transport systems, aggregation routers, and access equipment, enabling the operator to handle higher traffic volumes while maintaining low latency and high reliability.
The order is one of the largest recent wins for Tejas in the international market and reinforces the company’s growing presence in South Asia. The deployment is expected to begin in phases over the next 12–18 months, with Tejas providing end-to-end integration, testing, and support services.
Commenting on the win, Tejas Networks Managing Director and CEO Sanjay Nayak said the selection reflects the trust global operators place in Indian-made telecom gear. He added that the project demonstrates Tejas’ ability to deliver carrier-grade solutions that meet stringent performance and cost requirements in competitive markets.
Tejas Networks, part of the Tata Group, has been expanding its footprint beyond India through exports and partnerships in Southeast Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Its products are already deployed in several 4G and 5G networks worldwide, and this contract further strengthens its position as a preferred supplier for next-generation mobile backhaul and transport solutions.
The deal comes at a time when South Asian operators are accelerating 4G coverage and preparing for future 5G rollouts, creating strong demand for cost-effective, high-performance indigenous equipment.
